How do I get started with program development?

Please note: The FAQ pages at the HPCVL website are continuously being revised. Some pages might pertain to an older configuration of the system. Please let us know if you encounter problems or inaccuracies, and we will correct the entries.

The proper configuration for usage of the Sun Studio compiler suite, as well as Sun Cluster Tools (which enables parallel programming with MPI), are already included in your default setting. If you want to use a different set of compilers, for example revert to a previous version, you can use the use command. For instance, if the default setting is studio12, you can change to the previous version 10, by typing "use studio10". For different packages that you might want to use, run use -l.
