HPCVL Security Overview

The HPCVL Data center is located in a physically secure facility with multiple layers of security to prevent unauthorized access. Access controls restrict entrance to the controlled area containing sensitive equipment to authorized personnel only.  Access controlled entrances require the use of a badge for the locking mechanism and a pin to disable the intrusion alarms. An access control policy is posted in the secured zone and includes sign-in sheets for visitors who are escorted at all times. All entrances and exits from the controlled areas are monitored by closed circuit television (CCTV) and a system to record images of persons passing through the area. The environmental controls are appropriately secured to prevent unauthorized access and/or tampering with the equipment. Temperature control alarms and alerts are activated upon detection of threatening temperature conditions. The HPCVL Data center is equipped with:

  • Filtered, conditioned, power connected to an appropriately sized UPS

  • Backup power supplied through a generator

  • Fire suppression, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning appropriate for a commercial data processing facility

  • Emergency lighting
