  • HPCVL enters into MOU with RWTH Aachen University in Germany. 01/11/08
    HPCVL has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Center for Computing and Communication at the RWTH Aachen University in Germany. The partnership was developed through the Sun Microsystem\342??s Center of Excellence program. T he Memorandum has helped build a framework for the exchange of common experience and research related to high performance compu ting, and build a strong relationship between the two organizations. As a part of that effort, Aachen University experts on HP C methodologies gave workshops as a part of HPCS 2009 in Kingston in June 2009.

  • HPCVL Announces Major Hardware Expansion
    HPCVL is pleased to announce the installation of eight Sun SPARC Enterprise M9000 systems. Each system has sixty-four 2.5 2 GHz quad-core SPARC 64 chips and 2 TB of RAM. The cluster has a TPP of over 20 TFLOPS of performance and will help research ers tackle new problems currently out of reach. For more information, check out our hardware page or Sun's website.

  • HPCVL Expands Again
    HPCVL is pleased to announce the availability of our Victoria Falls cluster. This cluster is based on S un Microsystems 1.2GHz UltraSPARC T2+ processors which have eight CPU cores and each core capable of running eight "thread s" simultaneously. This is an exciting development as it is the first massively Chip Multithreaded (CMT) installation fo r research in Canada and is a paradigm shift. Altogether there are approximately 10,000 threads available. For details see the: HPCVL Victoria Falls Cluster page.
