What is the portal signup procedure?

Please note: The FAQ pages at the HPCVL website are continuously being revised. Some pages might pertain to an older configuration of the system. Please let us know if you encounter problems or inaccuracies, and we will correct the entries.

  1. Visit the Java Test Page, and make sure your java is working properly, and is a version listed below for your OS/Browser combination. If java is not working properly, please address this issue first. You should see a moving animated character dancing if java is working.
  2. Visit the Secure Portal Enrollment Page.
  3. Make sure you know your HPCVL username, and your web password (used to access the HPCVL Users page) you will require this information to complete the registration process. We've choosen this procedure for security reasons; it allows us to sign up new users without requiring us to send you information used to activate your certificate. Your web password is considered a 'shared secret'; it is something you already know.
  4. First time users, Create Roaming User Profile.
    • Here, you are creating a TruePass user certificate, used to log in to the Portal Server. Use the same (HPCVL) user name you already use, however the password you choose may be different than the one you used previously to access our login node. Password requirements are strict, requiring at least 8 characters, with at least one upper-case. We recommend that once logged in, you change your login password to match the one you have chosen for the portal:
  5. Create Roaming User
    Operation Status
  6. Recover Roaming User is used to reset forgotten portal passwords. In the future, should you forget your certificate password used to log in to the Portal server, you can reset it here, once again, make sure you know your HPCVL username and web password that will be used for your shared secret.
